Today, a special treat! Click HERE to download the file in high-quality mp4 format. Coming later today, a video on how to trap things, which can make 5 mans while levelling or gearing up easier.

A friend of mine, Dagr, linked his Heroic: The Twilight Zone achievement to me as soon as I logged on. He’s a much more hardcore player than I am these days, and I will admit a twinge of jealousy when I talked to him. However, it got me thinking about why I’m NOT in a hardcore raiding guild, and why I run with the miscreants that I do. A casual guild, but one that possesses a great number of skilled players, is an oddity in the WoW community. So I began to think a bit about why I’m not more hardcore than I am, with the exception of my employment with the U.S. military.

BigRedKitty is a heavyweight in the hunter community. The intricacies of trapping, kiting, and general hunter tactics would be lost on many people were it not for his hunter-guide movies and help. Let’s face it… the man is a behemoth.

Which made it all the more surprising to read his latest blog post and hear that he’s hangin’ it up. At the end of that post, he mentions that he hopes it may cause others to look at their lives and determine if they’re running down the same path as him. His caution is one that none of us should take lightly… for every WoW-player who can manage a family life and the game, there’s one who has let this game consume him and ruin relationships.

For a long time, I rolled with [Grim Toll] and [Mirror of Truth]. Soon, it will be [Bandit's Insignia] and [Darkmoon Card: Greatness]

While the armor penetration on [Grim Toll] isn’t the best stat in the world (Armor pen is kind of worthless at this point), the hit rating is outstanding. It puts me above the cap, which is where I like to be. I hate talenting for hit, because as we all know, our pets don’t get that hit from Focused Aim.

Recently, I’ve acquired a [Bandit's Insignia] to replace the [Mirror of Truth], and that has proven to be a good DPS increase, as it procs quite a bit more than the mirror does. But my current dilemma is this: I also have a Nobles Deck, and very soon will trade it in for [Darkmoon Card: Greatness], the best hunter trink in the game. In fact, it’s rumored to STAY best in slot through Ulduar. Hence, the [Grim Toll] will have to go.

That’s a lot of hit to lose, and will put me below cap. However, the current testers on the PTR report that a long-awaited change has been made. Focused Aim now affects pet hit rating. Since the current max DPS spec has a few “floater” points, this makes it very easy for me to drop 2 points into Focused Aim and maintain a hit cap, while allowing me to take advantage of the awesome DPS of [Darkmoon Card: Greatness].

I, for one, can’t wait for the patch to drop! (After all, hunters have always wanted Moar DoTs!)

So, a while back a few guildies were hacked… They also have a buttload of gold, so about 50,000g was taken. One of their computers was compromised, and they all logged on through that computer at one time or another.authenticator

Security conscious folk have Blizzard Authenticators. For those of you who don’t know what it is, it’s a device that generates a code based on a serial number and a time-sync. The code changes every 30 seconds or so, and you have to have the hardware device in your hand to see the code get generated. Of course, this is one extra thing you have to carry around.

Enter the Battle.net mobile authenticator from Blizzard. Now, the same time-sync code can be generated from an app on your iPhone.

Head over to The Battle.net site to get one, or jump on the App Store in iTunes and download it. It’s free. It works pretty well when battle.net isn’t having issues.

I’m no amateur. I’m not naive in the ways of the beast, by any measure. I’ve tracked countless beasts across Azeroth’s landscapes. Some, I’ve tamed as companions. Others, I’ve slaughtered to further my ends, when they provided nourishment, materials, or simply a periodic honing of my skills.

Since early on in my time as a master of all things wild, I’ve had an innate ability to “find” whatever beast or person I need to find. Later, that skill developed along with the rest, allowing me to become in tune with the undead, the demonic, the forces of the elements, and even those who would use illusion to deceive and destroy me.

But this beast… THIS beast… had been eluding me for what seemed like ages.
